08 apr. SmartCourier – an innovative courier service in Estonia

Itella SmartPOST is Estonian company that provides courier and parcel terminal services. The company’s new parcel home delivery currier electronic info system includes two devices – Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Smartphone (with logistic application) and Ingenico iWL220 terminal.  The way it works, is that the terminal uses internet connection shared by a smartphone adding a full EMV capable card payment functionality. How does mobile solution make SmartPOST’s everyday work more efficient?

Web commerce is a growing sector all over Europe as well as Estonia. This means that the B2C parcel volumes are also increasing. This growth, along with the tight competition in the postal services market, requires all of the active players to develop their network.

In 2014 we added several new services, one of those is SmartCourier, our innovative courier service, where we had the chance to improve the workflow by using Ellore’s system.

Courier mobile system enables sharing parcel delivery status info to a central system so that the courier can see the information about the parcel, its destination and the end customer. It also shares the information automatically with parcel’s sender and recipient. The solution is convenient to our workers because they have maps, routes, deadlines and all parcel info in one device.

What are the main benefits of the parcel home delivery mobile solution for the main user?

The solution is designed for Itella SmartPOST OÜ courier network allows to provide paperless logistic services. It allows Itella SmartPOST to offer COD (cash-on-delivery) services to clients. The system features verification services and age checks based on the Estonian ID card solution. The end-customer in turn can pay for the goods ordered online in a safe fashion. The customer does not have to relay any credit card details, but can pay for the purchase by card directly to courier.
